How the cards work for you

How Tarot can work for you everyday

If you are aware that the Tarot does have answers, and if you approach the deck with respect, you can begin to utilize it every day In your life.    The procedure for this is as follows:

First you sit down in front of a table, with your feet flat on the floor. It is preferable to have a warm, quiet situation. Sit quietly, breathing evenly.     Then say a prayer of protection.    This can be a standard prayer, e.g. Lord's Prayer, 23rd Psalm, chant or one of your own making:

Dear Lord, as I sit here, I humbly ask for your protection and guidance as I work with my symbology. Guide my thoughts so that I may learn about myself and my actions.    Protect me as I strive to understand the laws of the universe.

One should never work In a psychic nature without raising their vibration.    The best way of doing this is to say a prayer of protection.    Many books have recorded the disastrous results of people who 'played around' with psychic phenomena.    Therefore, realize the prayer of protection is an Important step in utilizing your psychic abilities.

Next, take your cards out of their box, and begin to shuffle your cards.    To shuffle the cards take them in one hand, with them lying face down,   and push with your thumb from the top into the other hand.   Then push some more to the bottom of the smaller pile.   Repeat the pushing by putting more cards on top of the pile growing in your other hand.    Do this top, bottom, top, procedure until all the cards have been removed from one hand to the other.    Then begin shuffling again.    DO NOT let the cards touch anything other than yourself.   Use your chest, or lap, to help get them even - not the table.     In this manner of shuffling all cards are touched and your vibration is through them all.

As you are shuffling, think of the question WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS SURROUNDING ME?    Until you become familiar with the procedure you may, at first, be shuffling for quite a few minutes.     It takes time to get your mind used to concentrating on one thing and one thing only.    When you do have the question firmly planted in your mind (nothing else is entering into it - like tomorrow's schedule, or your boss's nagging)   you cut the cards top to bottom.    Then you count off; face down, on top of each other, eight cards. When you get to the 9th card, you turn it up and look to see what it says.    (Then turn up the 9th card because nine encompasses all numbers,   after nine, we have ten which is comprised of one and zero.)    This reading is called the General Condition Reading, using the 9th card method.

When you have turned the symbol up, study the story it is portraying.    Check your impressions with the write-up. Look at the key and discover how it applies to the symbol. It is recommended you keep a journal of your dally readings. Write down the symbol you receive and your impressions of it.    Often a meaning to a symbol in relation to yourself is not obvious when you first draw it.    Then a few days later you will go back over what you have written down and it all becomes clear.

The symbol will be advising you of the most prominent condition 360    around you.    Because you are unable to see 360 deg.   around you at any one time, you may miss what the symbol is applying to.    But as you become more acquainted with relating the symbols to the life you learn to watch out for experiences in the life which the symbols represent.    You can learn to cope with unpleasant situations, or to enjoy conditions which are presented to you.   Most importantly you learn when you attitude is wrong, so you can work to correct It.

You can also use your dally symbol for meditation in order to learn more.   Then you are familiar with the picture you have drawn and can hold It In your mind's eye, close your eyes, lifting the eyeball slightly upward.    (You should not be aware of any pressure.)    Just sit for a minute or two and see what other thoughts or inspirations come to you.    Do not be concerned if at first you do not receive any flashes of Insight or perceive anything,    it can sometime takes weeks of sitting studying the symbols dally before they begin to  'talk' to you.

At first it may seem strange asking 'what are the conditions surrounding me' everyday.    The procedure can be very beneficial. The symbology will be advising you what forces you have to deal with during that particular day.    Perhaps they are happy cards, as the three of cups, four of wands, Empress or the World, which demonstrate there are no adverse conditions. Or you may receive symbology like the five of cups, three of swords or the Tower, which shows that you can encounter negativity in the life.    You need not be sad and discouraged when this occurs.    As you will become more aware, it Is your ATTITUDE which is important.    You will discover that because a negative condition is prevalent it does not have to dominate. You alone have control over your life and can change these conditions anytime.

In brief the procedure is:

Sit quietly, breathing evenly
Take cards out of box
Say a prayer of protection
Shuffle cards thinking "WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS SURROUNDING ME"
Cut cards top to bottom
Count to the 9th card, turn up.
Write down what the card is saying to you in your journal.  Meditate on card

9TII CARD READING FOR ANY QUESTION

After you have been using the 9th card reading for some time you will begin to understand yourself and how you react to situations around you.    You will become aware of your thought patterns and also which Bind you are utilizing.    As the symbols become more familiar, you are ready to do the next step - answer any question.

It is not hard to read the future, because you are projecting into your vibrational pathway which your thinking has set up. The most   important thing to realize is:    BY CHANGING YOUR THOUGHT PATTERNS YOU CHANGE YOUR APPROACH.  WHICH CHANGES THE FUTURE?

When you have a thought of something you would like to do, you can use the 9th card method to find the OUTCOME.    With questions like "What will be the outcome of my trip'? 'what will be the outcome of the day, week or month'?  'what will be the outcome of the new job?  can be answered by pulling the 9th card.

It is important to have constructive questions.    Questions like   ‘Will I have a baby?'     'Am I going to get married?'  Are not constructive    questions and lead to vague answers.     It is far better to ask 'What will be the outcome of having a baby?' 'What will be the outcome of getting' married?' or 'what will be the outcome of my DESIRE to get married?'    You must always remember YOU are In control of your destiny.    The Tarot will serve as a guide to help you make decisions, but you and only you, have to make them.

Used correctly and constructively, Tarot is a valuable tool in making decisions, by showing you exactly what influences are in operation around you.    You can draw symbology to look at ALL alternatives offered to you.    Then you can make your decisions based on knowledge.    Used incorrectly, you will find yourself becoming more confused than before.    Your attitude is important; you have to realize the Tarot is reflecting you as you are.

USING MORE THAN ONE SYMBOL

When you become familiar with reading one symbol, you are then ready to move on to reading more than one, and learn to link them together by drawing the 'silver thread' through them so they make a story.

Reading Tarot symbology is like reading a book.    This time, however, you have pictures not words.    Your job is to make the pictures into words, words which you understand and are able to relate to your questions.    Instead of just pulling the 9th card, you also pull out the second 9th card (18th from the top) and then a third 9th card (27th from the too!.    You will now have three cards turned up in front of you.    Look at the three symbols, and make the story come to life.    Sometimes you may find you need more than three symbols to make the story complete.    Then you can turn up the following 9th and even a fifth 9th card, or more, if needed.

Reading the symbology as a story helps bring the philosophy to light.    You may find the symbols you have drawn are the five of cups, two of swords and the Ace of Cups.    With a little study of the symbology you can see it is saying 'Don't cry over what is gone, but turn around and look ahead, being more open to the ideas available to you.    Then as you accept these ideas, you will find the happiness you feel has been lost.

Or, you may find the symbols the Fool, three of  swords and Death.    Again a short study will show you have a great deal of confidence in yourself but this time your actions will lead to heartbreak and disappointment.   Therefore, re-evaluate your position and proceed ahead on the new path of understanding, which will lead you to the goal you are seeking.

If the symbology is in different order, then it is a different story.    There are hundreds of combinations, each one showing the situation as it exists.    It does take practice to be able to draw the   ‘silver thread’   through the symbols!  the old saying 'practice makes perfect' applies.    Therefore, try reading for your friends and relatives and watch how it works.    You must use the same procedure as you use for yourself, but instead of saying WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS SURROUNDING ME, you say WHAT ARE THE CONDTIONS SURROUNDING  (whoever).    Use the whole name if possible.

The symbols will begin to 'talk' to you so you know the story you have to tell.    One thing you have to realize is that you must accept the symbology as it is.    So often you don't like the answer you have been given and you want to change it.    You cannot change the symbology, but what you can do is take the answer you have been given and find out what it is you have to change.    Change your attitude towards the situation and then 24 hours later try the same question again to see if the change in attitude has made any difference to the outcome.    You will find it most likely has.

Whatever you do don't WORRY about what the symbology is depicting.    Worry clutters the mind with needless thoughts and then everything becomes negative.    Worry has to be a person's must dangerous enemy.     It is negative as is depicted in the symbols,   five of wands,   ten of wands and the Lovers.    What we worry about is the negative outcome of a situation.     Remember the picture which is being transmitted by your thought patterns are real, and those worry thoughts can create your worry into a reality.    Instead of worrying, put your energy into projecting what YOU want as the end result.    Then watch the positive result come to pass, as well as seeing it reflected into your symbology.
