5/1/03  Wisdom

Conversations with God Bk. III Chapter 8

Discussions

Dakilahsuan: What is the difference between knowledge, understanding and wisdom?

Life is a matter of understanding.  If you know the functions of things, you understand.  Application of what you understand begets wisdom.

If you accept what you understand, then you have belief.  If you accept what you know without understanding, then you have faith. In knowing you just know inside that it is so.  Knowing, whether or not it is acceptable is inside you. Belief in what you know could also be based on your past experience.  For example, if I have no knowledge about reincarnation, then what is the basis of my belief in reincarnation? Past readings, knowledge learned, or probably from other sources which need not be understood or validated as true or false.

Question/discussion

Bisataoling:  How do you know the Divine is with you?

Dakilahsuan: Through your own experience. If lacking the experience, you just have to have faith.

Bisataoling: How can I have that faith when I first do not believe?

Dakilahsuan: Belief is the property of your conscious mind.  Faith is the property of your unconscious mind.

Bisataoling: What does divinity mean to you?

Patshakti: You have to compare the human and the divine.  If you believe you have a soul, then that makes you divine.  The source is the divine source and anything emanating from the divine source is a divine manifestation.

Bisataoling: How do you know there is a source.

Dakilahsuan: If the knowledge is anchored on the conscious life, it cannot keep it as separate.  You cannot perceive its separate manifestation.

Bisataoling: How do you define Divinity?

It is the unknown part of us.  It is the soul or the spirit.  To err is human, to forgive divine.  Or is it “To err is divine and to forgive is human”?

 Discussions

Bisataoling: There is a Cosmic Will that guides entities, who have no free will of their own.

Dakilahsuan: When you torture an animal, do you incur karmic obligations?  Or is it limited to what you do to other people?

Creating ecological imbalance could be the effect of our own causative action. We might end up reaping the consequences of this imbalance resulting from our own actions. The soul has its own mission for coming down here. This must have been decided/created before coming here.  So is the will/agenda of your soul tantamount to the will of God?

Patshakti: The soul has its own agenda.  It has its own samskaras to express as an individual.  If the soul wants to experience poverty, for example, it could be because of his samskaras, which propel his mind to experience poverty.  In effect this is his will.   Yet God is the collectivity of all the unit souls – and therefore carries the force of the collectivity of all the individual samskaras.  The force expressing the collectivity of these samskaras may be expressed in a collective form and this may be considered as the Collective Will. In this case, what manifests in collectivity, may be different from what is expressed individually by each soul.

What we are experiencing is based on a will, which we have decided before hand.  Unless we consider ourselves separate from our higher selves, then our soul’s will is not our will.

Dakilahsuan: Will the Higher Self (soul) leave your body when it feels that what you are doing is no longer congruent with the soul’s agenda?

Bisataoling: Sometimes, theHigher Self gives you the circumstances that will make you experience the things he wants you to experience.  In this case, flowing is an important lesson. If a change is  triggering you into a realization, may be in that instance, you will be given  by your higher self  an opportunity to recreate yourself anew.  Flowing has its own wisdom in life.  It has its own adaptability and sustainability.

 5/6/03  Physical Exercises

 5/7/03  Immortality

Water Element surfaced in one of the exercises performed by "Roundhead" (Ram-ram) and "Monarch" (Vim-vim).  The water element signifies the principle of non-resistance.  For every action, do not get excited.  Just flow.  The element smelt like sulphur (acrid).  The element is just like consciousness.  It has no specific shape or form.  If it is contained, it does not mean that it is immobile.  Our essence is motion.  Water, when contained, will always try to get out whenever there is a leak.  Excitement is characteristic of the fire element.  The water element requires you to be calm and collected.  If you heat water, or stimulate it very hard, it will become steam.

Roundhead flows well, like water, while Monarch gets excited like fire.  This is not a matter of winning or losing.  Monarch wants to get the knife and Roundhead is willing to give it, but Monarch does not want to take it without a struggle, without excitement. The element presenting itself could be Bruce Lee.  Bruce Lee is of the water element.

Effective today, Ram-ram and Vim-vim have their new names.  "Roundhead" refers to a supreme breed of Cockerel, while "Monarch" refers to the ultimate breed of Butterfly.

Just flow.  Accept what is occurring.   Do not force it.  There are always other options.  Do not get too excited.  Do not panic. Keep cool. Flow.  Do not compete but cooperate with each other.  Look at your opponent as a partner. (From Dakilahsuan's  account of a personal experience)

Centenarians eat a variety of diet but tend to eat moderately.

5/8/03  Wisdom

Bisataoling: Who you Are is your being-ness.  Your being-ness cannot be seen.  It is inside, but you can express it by doing.  You can have being-ness and all the wisdom, but you cannot see it except by doing.

Decision affirmation, “from now on I have decided to do it your way. Whatever I do will be reflections of my inner state of being, such as joy, love, peace, perfect health, infinite knowingness and financial abundance” are decisions of being-ness. Being-ness, therefore, is a decision.  You can create being-ness if you can decide.  You have to decide Who You Want To Be, decide on your being-ness and then from that decision comes the doing-ness. I AM WHO AM  announces who you are, declares who you are.

Decision is what bridges your intentions.  My life proceeds out of my intentions for it.  If you decide to be happy, then you are happy.  The appearance of Who You Are Not is just a tool of Who You Are.  You are not seeking Who You Are, if you go along with Who You Are not. You are being influenced by illusions.  You have to be able to express Who You Really Are.

Bisataoling: Gandhi experienced a being-ness of non-violence.

Dakilahsuan: On that basis, a master prefers what is occurring into his life all because he has chosen to experience the being-ness that he may have decided to create?

Bisataoling: And also, because whatever occurs into your life is a manifestation of what you have decided about your life. The Who You Are Not may appear as a tool to know Who You Really Are.

Your being-ness of harmony is within yourselves, but sometimes you cannot control the harmony outside yourself.

Patshakti: If you are Who You Are Not, you may be farther from Who You Really Are .Who You Really Are is our Ultimate Destination, which is merger.

Dakilahsuan: But Who You Are and Who You Are Not are just tools.  Who You Are Not may yet bring you closer to your final goal, if you realize the being-ness you want to achieve.  For example in your being-ness of being happy, you experience problems and unhappiness. It does not mean you are far from your intended goal, because experiencing unhappiness makes you realize Who You Are Not and lead you to recreate yourself anew to Who You Want To Be, to be happy and be Who You Really Are.

In the realm of the relative, there is the factor of time and space.  If you indulge too much in Who You Are Not, it might take time for you to become Who You Want To Be. It may take you several lifetimes. You will get farther from your goal in the sense that you will always be coming back to 3D.  In each such experience there is the factor of time and space.  In the soul life, you decide this is your experience.   Here you experience the opposite, Who You Are Not.  May be it is only in the next lifetime you experience Who You Want To Be.

Bisataoling: You cannot know Who You Are next.  The soul is only after the experience, there is no time for the soul.  Up here we want to be in the goal.

Dakilahsuan: What you are in the present moment (cause) will create the experience in the next life (effect).  This is so, if you believe about Karma and Reincarnation.

 Unity Vs Separation

Dakilahsuan: If our true nature is unity and we do not embrace changes that will bridge the experience separation, we will not be One with Everything.  If we are going through an evolutionary path, where we are one and united, we can go farther.  If we are aware of our goal, and do it, then our progress becomes accelerated.

Bisataoling: Suppose you get the consciousness of abundance, understanding, harmony, etc. is it better without going into contrast?  Can we appreciate it more?  Will it be more enjoyable?

Patshakti: Maybe we will not be able to savor the nice things about the hurts that we have undergone. Hardship and struggle are necessary ingredients to the sweet smell of success.

Discussions

Dakilahsuan: If there is enough, then why do we have to share?  Will sharing  solve the problem of food shortage for example? To me, the word "enough" is highly relative, depending upon what one perceives as such - NO LIMIT! And, my understanding about the word " abundance" is unlimited-ness.

Insofar as material resources are concerned, there is enough in this planet for everyone.  The reason it does not look as though there is enough for everybody is that so many people who have more than enough are sharing only the smallest part of what they have with those who have less.  A tiny percentage of the world’s people holds a massive share of the world’s wealth, and uses a colossal share of your world’s resources.  These holdings are wildly disproportionate – and the proportion is growing larger not smaller, every day.

There is so much separation.  People do not want to venture into the domain of “social spirituality”.  Yet, until people can decide how to apply the truth of Oneness, all the preaching and all the teachings the world will not change anything.  Only when there is a change in the human heart will there be a change in the human condition.

How do you know there is enough?  It seems this refers only to our unlimited potential.  God seems to be  trying to tell us is that there is enough for every one, that the resources are unlimited, that we have the unlimited power to create and produce what we need. But these resources are just being hoarded by a few.  The other thing, hoarding food, clothing, etc. anything, may will just indicate that there is only so much that you can accumulate.  Whether others share or not, the fact remains there is only so much that one can consume, that eventually hoarders end up sharing their resources and wealth with others, either by paying salaries, investing in projects, paying debts, taxes and even  contributing to charities. The projects you build, like this building, certainly benefit other people. Even the money in the bank gets loaned to other people and is circulated.  Money, as energy, is circulating around.  Ownership is only stewardship and theoretical. It is typical for energy to be circulating around.  If there is enough for everyone, why do you have to share? When “enough” is really mean enough to an individual who has the insatiable desire for everything?

Bisataoling: There is only enough, if we all share.

Dakilahsuan: Then, there's not enough supply for everyone's greed and therefore we are only partaking from a "limited" supply of what we call resources. There's only so much (limited supply) for everyone, so we have to SHARE. It appears therefore, that there's not enough supply for everyone, and the prodding to share simply demonstrates this!

Patshakti: If we consider the being-ness that there is enough for everyone, then there is no limit to what we can have.  But there are people who are really in need, whether it is food, clothing, medicines and medical care, housing and education, there is just not enough to go around.

Bisataoling: Sharing is just sharing out of love of whatever you have more than enough of.  If you have not have anything share, then you are not obliged to share.  Sharing in this case is unconditional.  You give with no strings attached.

Dakilahsuan: But giving or sharing food with others for just a day may be okay, but what about tomorrow, the next few days?  Will this not just accentuate people’s dependence and therefore disempowerment?  Wouldn’t it be best to help people help themselves, on the principle that teaching people how to fish is a lot better than giving people "a fish for a day"?

This is of course the ideal approach.  But this will take time…time to educate and train people on skills that will enable them to help themselves.  Time is also needed for people to change their beliefs, before they can change their ways.

This is the way the IMF, World Bank, Asian Development and other financial institutions operate when lending money for social  development.  They want to be sure that the money  not just for providential purposes but also for  productive purposes, even if this would mean expenditures in social projects which would contribute to the improvement in the lives of the people, whether in the area of health and sanitation, employment generation, education and technology development.  Along with this is the adjustment required to make the economy more viable, even if this would mean imposing more taxes and curtailing certain incentives now being given to business.

Patshakti: But, in the meantime, hunger and deprivation is stalking people every day and lack of housing, medical and education is real and cannot wait for longer-term solution.  There has to be some short-term programs to alleviate the plight of suffering humanity.

Bisataoling:  But the idea of sharing is just plain sharing.  You don’t need to worry about whether or not your help or your sharing would dis-empower people receiving your aid or help.

Dakilahsuan: Then if this is the idea, you can be sure it will never solve the problem of poverty and food shortage, or even of energy shortage.

There is still so much separation around and people will continue to think only of themselves.  No amount of preaching or sharing will change anything.  Nothing less than a radical change in the way things are structured is required to make this change.

Hungry and deprived people cannot wait for rich people to be merciful and be converted into spirituality and start sharing their abundance and their wealth to others.  Philanthropists after philanthropists have been giving to others ever since time immemorial, but the problem has not been solved; there is still so much disparity in the sharing of wealth and resources, poverty still abounds.

People should be convinced that they must change their sponsoring beliefs about sharing and abundance. Why not teach people to express their unlimited creative potential and inspire them to become a producer of value, rather than a ready recipient of other's graces? Having enough for everyone is potentially viable, if people believe that God provides all the tools (resources) to manifest "enough-ness" to everyone. Then, SHARING becomes unnecessary because there's now "enough" for everyone else.

Patshakti:  The basic structure must change.  The idea behind what you consider progress must be clearly understood.  People must also know their goal.  But before this can happen, perspective must change at the same time.  I would, therefore, recommend that we consider Master P. R. Sarkar’s PROUT, an acronym for Progressive Utilization Theory, a new concept of Politics and Economy.

Off hand, the basic concepts of this theory are as follows:

•Progress, in the real sense, is possible only in the spiritual sphere.  While progress in the material and psychic sphere is fully recognized and supported, real progress comes only when people know their real goal and work towards the fulfillment of that goal.

Therefore, society’s utilization of resources available to it at any given time should be such as to result in real progress.

•The concept of resources includes not the material   inputs, but also the intellectual and spiritual endowments of the community.  Prout stresses the utilization of all the material, mental and spiritual resources in such a way as to result in the spiritual happiness of the individual as well as the society.

The notion of material resources is quite clear-cut, but what are mental and spiritual resources?

•Mental resources, or what P. R. Sarkar calls supramundane, signify ideas, concepts, languages, literature, art, scientific and technical inventions and so on.  Spiritual resources refer to the knowledge and techniques resulting in the broadening and expansion of mind.  PROUT advocates that all these resources be utilized to bring about individual and social progress.

FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF PROUT, which hopefully we can study in more detail, later, are outlined below in advance, for a glimpse to the philosophy of PROUT.

1. No individual should be allowed to accumulate any physical wealth without the clear permission of the collective body.  This necessarily involves the concept of private property and that of state ownership.

2. There should be maximum utilization and rational distribution of all mundane, supramundane and spiritual potentialities of the universe.

The principle has two aspects: maximum utilization and rational distribution.  The goal is maximum employment and efficient production. The distribution of income among members of society should be rational.  Abolition of private property is not advocated, nor does it advocate completely equal distribution.  Instead it calls for rational distribution, one which furthers and does not conflict, with the idea of maximum utilization.  P. R. Sarkar argues that  “diversity is the law of nature”, equality will never be.’ Equality is possible only in the unmanifest state of cosmic consciousness; so complete equality amounts to the cessation of all activity.  What it can do is to ensure equality of opportunity to all so that no one unjustly gets an advantage over others.

 3.  There should be maximum utilization of all physical, metaphysical and spiritual potentialities of the unit and collective body of the human society.  A link is established between the individual good and the collective good, between individual interest and collective interest.  Social welfare depends on individual welfare and individual welfare on social welfare.  Both have to be stressed at the same time.

One must not forget, says P. R. Sarkar, that “collective good lies in individualities and individual good lies in collectivity”.  Social welfare cannot be maximized if individual interests are neglected. For this reason, everyone should have (a) the freedom of thought and expression, (b) provided the minimum physical requirements including some leisure so that he can devote some time to intellectual and spiritual pursuits.  But individual welfare  also depends on the nature of their government of the collective body.

4.  There should be proper adjustment amongst the physical, metaphysical, mundane, supramundane and spiritual potentialities.

This principle advocates a proper balance in individual life and the collective body.  Here physical and metaphysical refer to the potentialities of a person, and mundane and supramundane to the potentialities of the universe.

The idea is that each person should be encouraged to maintain a balance among physical, mental and spiritual activities.  Neglect or excess of anyone of them leads to unhappiness.  Similarly, society also has to strike a balance in utilizing the three types of resources available to it.

 5. The method of utilization should vary in accordance with the changes in time, space and person, and the utilization should be of a progressive nature.

The proper use of resources must vary with  time, space and person.  Everything changes all the time.  Therefore, the methods of resource utilization, productive techniques, ideas and theories, the spiritual practices all have to be adjusted and readjusted over time.

This fifth and final principle of PROUT furnishes it the quality of adaptability lacking in all other systems.  This is what imparts it a universal character and validity.  This is what should make it appealing to all peoples on earth, to all societies, to all nations.

The purpose of all wealth, according to PROUT is to satisfy human wants and desires.  It is for consumption, not for hoarding or profiteering.

PROUT advocates the minimum physical requirements, such as food, clothing, shelter, medical care and education, should be guaranteed to all.  But minimum requirements are not static.  They vary with time.

Minimum necessities will be guaranteed to all by providing them suitable jobs at money rates that can afford the necessities at market prices.  Education, housing, and health care should be provided free to everyone, so that food and clothing are the only main needs left to be met from wages.

After the minimum requirements of all have been satisfied, the surplus national income, if any, should be distributed among people in proportion to their contribution to society.

 5/13/03     Physical Exercises

There are signs that mastery of our exercises will give us the ability to conquer time and space and be control of the elements.  Today, we practiced the pairings on butterfly dance. We also reviewed the solo on adult and introduced changes to the pupa solo.

 5/14/03    Immortality

Today, we continued with the Science of Longevity, particularly on setting longevity as a goal.  We learned that a steady weight, eating moderately and remaining active, are not sufficient to explain longevity.  The psychological factors of optimism, lack of worry, emotional resilience, capacity for enjoyment, and love of autonomy all indicate a higher degree of psychological health.  Above average intelligence also makes it easier for a person to remain in good health, to earn a stable income and to learn to resolve personal problems.

The notion of an aging elite supports the idea that biology can be influenced by outside factors, although coming from disadvantaged background does not automatically disqualify someone from bettering him- or herself.

Most long-lived authorities of the day believed in the virtues of country living, of keeping active in old age, and of maintaining social ties with family and community.  Vegetarian diets are also advised, along with body massages and deep breathing exercises.

Among the dozen factors considered important to life-extension practices,

Frugal eating is the one that has caught the imagination of almost every person who consciously tried to live a long life.

“Under-nutrition” has also been   considered effective.  Under-nutrition, supplying complete nutrition on a very low-calorie diet – was found to be the only proven way to extend the life span of animals.  It can possibly work for humans, but so far no conclusive proof can be obtained for this assumption because of the risk of stunting growth and obvious ethical objections.

Restricted diet, or fasting, has also been found highly effective in increasing life span, as the tapered restrictions allow a gradual shifting of metabolic set points to accommodate dietary restrictions without abrupt changes.

Physical Exercises

We started practicing the  revised and enhanced version of the Larvae Dance, which now incorporates kicking to each body movement.  This may be hard on the knees at the beginning, so that we are cautioned to be careful and just take it easy at first.  Your legs will eventually adjust and be able to do the kicking as a matter of course.

Discussions

Bisataoling: Why is it that when you become aware you stop pretending?

Dakilahsuan: When you stop pretending you are accepting.  When you are pretending, you are trying to fix the illusion.  You try to do that which is supposed to be accepted as is.  When you accept, you let it go as perfect.  The five gate valves of our senses, that is the way for illusions to manipulate our awareness.   When we see something, we see it as illusion.  Instead of accepting what we see, we tend to fix it to suit our preferences.  They appear to help you know Who You Really Are.  It might be an appearance, Who You Are Not.  It is not supposed to be fixed.

You are aware of what is not perfect and of what is perfect for you.  When you are aware that it is not perfect, you tend to fix it, you control it, guide it.  When you accept, you give them fully freedom to express themselves.  When you are aware, you stop pretending.  When you are aware, it is perfect upon itself (or not perfect upon itself), then you accept it and stop fixing it.

Bisataoling:  If I am pretending that it is not the real me.

Dakilahsuan:  Because you are already becoming Who You Are.

 Conscious Awareness and Unconscious Awareness

You know that you know. When you are unconsciously aware, you do not know that you know. You are just simply observing.  Unconsciously, you are aware what it is then.  But when you are consciously aware, you stop observing.  You can see its appearance; you ask why it is there.  Unconsciously aware, you just see life is difficult.  You then stop accepting it because that particular event in your life is trying to serve you a purpose and you are the one creating that experience.   Instead of just looking at it, you see through it.  You are no longer bound by your senses.  You are already operating on the full awareness of Who You Are.  You are the One creating your reality.

Bisataoling: What about the guidance of the infinite wisdom of your heart?

Dakilahsuan: There are different levels of awareness.  When you are fully aware, you cease to be aware because you are Awareness yourself.  You become, the Unobserved Observer.  The idea of asking Who Am I, it is no longer there.  For there, the highest become Awareness itself.  Awareness is unlimited.

You awareness will solely depend upon your particular level of consciousness. One level of awareness is different from another.  As individual consciousness expands to group consciousness, there is more awareness.  Awareness should be in tandem with the level of knowledge, depending on his level of consciousness.

Bisataoling:  Is awareness the same as consciousness?
