The Sphinx Within
Man's Individual Book of Judgment
The history of man is the history of man's glands. The story of his evolution, the story of his personal and spiritual progress, is written unmistakably and in¬delibly in his glandular system. It tells a tale, concerning the personality, as undeniable and as definite as his unique thumbprint.
He who can read the glandular activities of an individual can read that man physically, mentally, emotionally, psychically and spiritually - inside and out. The endocrine system is man's individual, personal akashic record, and his Book of Judgment, for as a man thinks and feels, so does his glandular system react — and as his glandular system reacts, so does he think and feel. The two processes are so intimately intertwined as to be indistinguishable.
The endocrine system, so far as esoteric scientists are concerned, consists of:
1. glands possessing ducts;
2. glands possessing no ducts, called ductless glands.
The glands possessing ducts release their substances into the ducts which carry the secretions either to the surface of the body or the alimentary canal. The ductless glands, on the other hand, release their secretions directly into the blood stream or the lymph, whence they are carried all over the physical body.
The principal endocrine glands are:
The Pineal and pituitary in the head.
The Parathyroid, the thyroid and the thymus in the throat and thoracic region.
The Spleen, the adrenals and the liver in the solar plexus and abdominal region
The gonads in the sacral region.
All glands are organized groups of cells. They possess the uncanny ability to extract certain substances from the blood and the lymph, change them through some mysterious alchemical activity of their own – either by adding new chemical substances or using the materials from the blood to manufacture an entirely new type of substance – and then release it back into the blood stream.
Since these secretions are distributed throughout the body, they exert their influence upon glands, cells organs and tissues far removed from the gland expelling them .
Glandular activities are conducted with such incredible wisdom that the individual glands know which secretions are meant for them and which are to be passed along to some other gland. Thus the secretions meant for the gonads will be received and utilized only by the gonads and not by other glands.
The word “endocrine’ is a combination of two Greek words: endon, meaning “within” and krimein, meaning “to separate,” which implies at once that endocrine refers to that which operates simultaneously within one unit, but also act separately. This is a perfect description of the endocrine system. Each gland has its separate function and is capable of performing its own operation and producing its own mysterious harmonic fluid. Yet at the same time they all combine to function as one unit, consolidating intricate alchemical operations.
The word hormone is derived from the Greek word meaning “to arouse” or to “set in action’ or “to stimulate.” This adequately describes the glandular secretions since hormones released from one gland produce a stimulating effect upon all the other glands. Thus, the entire glandular system operates as one compact unit.
At present man is the slave of his endocrines in that the brain cells not only receive nourishment from the glandular secretions, but their functional processes are ordained by these secretions as well. The inner struggle of the lower man with the Oversoul is the result of the influence of the endocrine secretions in the brain. As the Oversoul or superconscious mind gradually dominates the mental functions of the lower man, the brain cells are increasingly activated, challenging the endocrines toward perpetual evolution.
Man can control the activities of the glandular system – but only with powerful personal effort, both mentally and emotionally, and few are endowed with such powers.
Any personality who surges ahead of the masses with new age ideas, either in business, personal affairs or in spiritual undertakings, can be recognized as one who is overcoming the domination of the glandular system.
This is especially true of the religion a man follows. So long as he willingly subjects himself to the domination of a “religious” leader who propounds the laws of psychological fears, just so long will he remain a slave of the endocrines. The free soul, on the other hand, is the one who finds his spiritual comfort and progression in the religion which gives him free will, freedom from fear and a choice of his creeds.
Man becomes the “creature having dominion over all the earth,” as he was ordained to do, in the exact proportion that he dominates his physiological endocrine functions. He does this through development of his own personal will power as he gives birth to new thought patterns, as he strives to erase past karmic records, and opens himself to receive wisdom from spiritual leaders who urge him toward the freedom of his own soul.
Man becomes a co-creator with God only as he gradually liberates himself from the influence of his glandular secretions. He is held to this chain of slavery by his inherited karma, registering first through the heart seed atom and then through the glands,. But his future freedom will well depend upon three things:
1. The use he makes of his own individual will power as he, through spiritual means,
strives to overcome the influence of past karma in his life.
2. His attempts to balance the chaotic flow of undesirable picture images released by
the heart seed atom, with the powerful constructive picture images of the present
as they are released by the mental and the astral seed atoms.
3. The constructive way he utilizes the hormonal secretions of his glands.
Man’s inner urges – which drive him either upward or downward, forward or backward, to love, to hate, to feel everything that he experiences within – rise up from the endocrine glandular system as it receives the picture images distributed by the heart seed atom into the blood stream.
The Seed Atoms are dispensers of Karma
Let us consider the biblical scripture : The sins of the fathers are visited upon the children even unto the fourth generation.
This does not refer to our earthly “fathers” otherwise these would be a flagrant miscarriage of divine justice.
It means that we ourselves are the “parents” of our own future, whether it be good or bad, according to our actions in this present life, and that we today are the “child’ of what we fathered in past incarnations even unto four incarnations ago. It means that we might now be reaping our karmic rewards or punishments earned by ourselves as far back as four “generations” as it is symbolized in the Bible.
